Terms of Service

Last updated September 5, 2026

๐Ÿ“œThe short version

Kaptr is a small, independently-run photo game. These terms cover the practical stuff: you need an account to play, you keep ownership of your photos, an AI model scores them and won't always get it right, Kaptr Plus is a subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play, and we can remove scores or accounts that game the system. The full detail is below.

โœ…Acceptance and eligibility

By creating an account or using Kaptr, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Kaptr. This matches our Privacy Policy, which explains that we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

๐Ÿ‘คYour account

You sign in with your Google or Apple account; Kaptr doesn't have its own separate password. You're responsible for keeping that sign-in secure and for anything that happens under your account.

Accounts are for one person. Streaks, scores, and leaderboard standing are tied to you individually, so please don't share an account or play on someone else's behalf.

The first round you play can happen before you sign in, as a temporary guest session. If you sign in with Google or Apple afterward, that round's score and streak carry over to your account, unless that Google or Apple account already has a Kaptr account of its own. In that case, you're signed into your existing account instead, and the guest round isn't carried over. If you never sign in, the guest session isn't a permanent account: it isn't guaranteed to be kept, and may be cleared out after a period of inactivity.

๐ŸšซAcceptable use

Kaptr only works if the photos and the people behind them are real. When you play, don't:

We may remove content, void scores, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.

๐Ÿ“ทYour content

You own the photos you capture in Kaptr. We don't claim any broad license over them. All we need, and all we take, is what it takes to run the game: your capture is held in memory on your device, sent once to our scoring function to be judged against that day's riddle, contest round, or Quest target, and then the score and feedback text are recorded to your account. The image itself is never saved to Kaptr's servers or any cloud storage. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on how this works.

Two things happen only if you choose them: Quest lets you optionally save a catch photo to your own phone's gallery, and sharing a result card renders your capture into a temporary image handed to your device's own share sheet. Both stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. Anything you choose to share publicly this way, such as posting a share card yourself, is of course visible to whoever you share it with.

๐Ÿ’ŽPurchases: Kaptr Plus and contest credits

Kaptr Plus is an auto-renewing subscription that raises your daily attempt and capture limits. It's sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by Kaptr, and it renews automatically for the same term unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

You manage and cancel Plus through your App Store or Google Play account settings, not in the app itself. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we don't process or control them directly.

Extra contest credits are a separate one-off purchase, not a subscription. A credit is spent when you start a game beyond your monthly allowance, one credit per game, in any mode with its own starting limit, not just private contests. Credits don't renew and they don't expire. They're billed through the App Store or Google Play the same way Plus is, and refunds are again Apple's or Google's decision. Because a credit is consumed the moment you use it, spent credits can't be restored.

Free-tier limits and Plus benefits may change from time to time. We'll give you notice of any change that reduces what you're getting.

๐Ÿ†Fair play and leaderboards

Leaderboards, streaks, and scores only mean something if they reflect real play. We may void a score, remove an entry from a leaderboard, or suspend an account for cheating, which includes anything covered under Acceptable Use above (gaming the AI scoring, automation, impersonation) as well as coordinating with other accounts to manipulate rankings.

๐Ÿค–AI scoring is automated and not guaranteed

Every score, match result, and piece of feedback you get in Kaptr is generated by an automated AI model, not a human judge. It's genuinely trying to score what's in your photo, but it can be wrong, inconsistent between two similar photos, or occasionally strange. A score, match, or streak is not a promise of accuracy, and we're not liable for a judgment call the model gets wrong.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธAvailability

Kaptr is early-stage software, still actively changing. Game modes, prompts, and features can be added, changed, or withdrawn, and we don't promise the app or any specific mode will always be available or uninterrupted. Prompt content (daily riddles, contest rounds, Quest targets) is generated and delivered from our servers and may change over time.

๐ŸšชTermination

You can stop using Kaptr and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account in the app, or by following the steps on our account deletion page. We may also suspend or terminate your account, particularly for the reasons described under Acceptable Use and Fair Play above.

When your account is deleted, your profile and gameplay data are removed as described on the account deletion page. Subscription and purchase records are kept by Apple or Google as part of their own billing records, independent of your Kaptr account.

โš–๏ธDisclaimers and limitation of liability

Kaptr is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, secure, or available at any particular time, and we don't guarantee any particular AI score, match result, or outcome.

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Kaptr, and our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) for Kaptr Plus or contest credits in the 12 months before the claim arose.

๐Ÿ“Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Kaptr evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version, and we'll flag significant changes in the app or on this site. Continuing to use Kaptr after an update means you accept the revised terms.

๐ŸŒGoverning law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute arising from these terms that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the courts located there.
